How to Help with 2020 Election Stress!

2020 Election Stress

There has been much stress this year! Whether it is topics of Covid, justice, or the election things have been tense. Many times, we hear what to do physically for stress (i.e. exercise, eat well, sleep well) or even what to do mentally (i.e. healthy community, track thoughts) but maybe not as much spiritually.

So what would be a healthy spiritual way to approach the 2020 election stress?

Pray for God’s will to be done.

In Matt 6: 9-13 Jesus is teaching how to pray. In one segment he states that we are to pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. When praying for the election, politics and our leaders we are to pray for God’s will to be fulfilled. The Lord will use who the Lord chooses to use, in the ways in which the Lord chooses, to fulfill his will. As we are reminded that only the Lord knows all things, we can have confidence knowing that this is the wisest way to pray

Matthew 6:9-13 9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11Give us this day our daily bread. 12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Pray for leaders and for America.

In 1 Timothy 2: 1-4 we learn that we are to pray for leaders. We are to pray for anyone that is placed in authority. We are not to tear down, insult or degrade. We are instead called to pray for these people!

1 Timothy 2:1-4 1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Mindful of what you take in (eyes, ears and what you speak about daily).

In Psalm 101:3 We are reminded to put no unclean thing before our eyes. Much of the media today is communicated in manipulative, toxic communication patterns. These types of communication patterns are unhealthy mentally and spiritually. Find your resources from a source that states facts and not opinions. Allow God to guide you in the facts!

Psalm 101:3 3I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

So, if you are dealing with 2020 election stress focus on all the wonderful aspects that help to build a strong physical and mental self. Also, try some of these spiritual tips to help realign the spirit to focus on what truly matters.

Philippians 4: 6-8

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
