Exploring the past is very important in most cases to be able to address the issues of the here and now. The past is what forms your foundation for life, your understanding of how to do relationships and how to relate to yourself. Another way to think about this is your past has a lot to do with how you attach to yourself (your self worth), with others (how you relate in intimacy, social situations, parenting) and with God (Do you trust God?, Is God’s character good?, Will God always be there?).
